Minor oil seeps, valve cover mist, and transmission fluid accumulate on engine surfaces over time. Mixed with road dust, this becomes a thick, heat-trapping layer across engine components.
Road Grime & Salt
Dirt and salt enter the engine bay through the front grille and wheel wells. In coastal San Francisco, salt air accelerates corrosion on exposed bolts, brackets, and wiring.
Hidden Leaks

How We Detail an Engine Bay Safely
Engine bay detailing requires protecting sensitive components first, then methodically degreasing, rinsing, and finishing. We never use high-pressure water directly on electrical components.
Protect Electrics
We cover the battery, fuse box, alternator, and any exposed wiring connectors before any liquid contact. Cold engine only. We do not detail a hot engine.
Degrease
We apply an engine-safe degreaser to all surfaces and let it dwell. Stubborn grease buildup on specific areas gets a targeted application and agitation with a detailing brush.
Low-Pressure Rinse
We rinse with controlled low-pressure water, not a power washer blast. Water is directed away from protected electrical components and drains naturally out of the bay.
Dry & Dress
We blow-dry the engine bay, then apply a light dressing to all plastic covers and trim. Metal surfaces get a light protective coat. The result is a clean, factory-fresh appearance.
